Partying it Up!

Yesterday (Tuesday) was Bess' birthday. So of course we had to celebrate!

After class, Gabby, Molly, Catherine, and I snuck out of Nelson House and headed to the market. We picked up an adorable owl shaped cake, candles, matches, and a thing of Coke since it's Bess' favorite drink. On the way back, we also stopped by the Chinese food place in our village.

According to Bess, it's a tradition in China to eat noodles on your birthday. So at the Chinese food place, we asked the lady who runs the place for Birthday Noodles. The looks that we got at that!...
There are only a billion types of noodles in the Chinese food books and there isn't a specific type that you eat on your birthday.

the Birthday Girl loves her cake!

I think Bess was really touched by it all. She mentioned how she's never really had a birthday celebration before. In China, this time of the year is when the schools have their exams and people are stressed, busy, and worried. Bess kept mentioned all day today how happy she was with all of it.
